Bonobo beer completes the set!

The fifth and final beer in the ape range has arrived.

Four years ago when we first started selling From the Notebook beers at the coffee shop, little did we think we’d be stocking a range of ape beers today – but that’s exactly what happened!

From day one Jacha and Gwyn really liked the idea that a charity connected to the animal on the front of each bottle of From the Notebook’s ale benefitted from the sale of each bottle. This included the Marine Conservation Society for the Puffin best bitter and the Artic Tern IPA to the British Trust for Ornithology for the Lapwing Farmhouse Ale. Ten pence from each bottle sold went directly to these charities to help support their vital work protecting these species.

As ever Jacha was thinking of a way to help the great apes and approached Managing Director  Graeme Denton with a proposal of collaborating together to launch an orangutan beer that would raise money for the two charities that Jacha is an ambassador for: Ape Action Africa and Orangutan Appeal UK. And so, a little while later Orangutan Lager arrived and took Betws-y-Coed by storm!

Fast forward to today and the Orangutan Lager was quickly followed by a Gorilla Stout, Gibbon Golden Ale, Chimpanzee IPA and finally today a Bonobo Brown Ale completes the set of Great Ape beers. Each bottle features a painting done by Jacha especially for the corresponding beer.

As we like to say: drink a beer and help save an ape! CHEERS!
